ALABAMA AUTO INSURANCE GUIDE
Alabama UM/UIM Stacking & Multiple Insurance Policies
Alabama Code § 32-7-23(c) limits recovery under the uninsured-motorist provisions of any one insurance contract to the primary coverage plus no more than two additional coverages provided for additional vehicles within that contract.
- Identify every potentially applicable policy and each covered vehicle.
- Within one contract, Alabama’s statute permits the primary UM coverage plus at most two additional vehicle coverages.
- Analyze separately whether UM coverage from other insurance contracts is available.
- Determine insured status and policy priority before calculating total available limits.
