FLORIDA AUTO INSURANCE GUIDE
Florida PIP, MedPay, Medical Liens, Subrogation & Reimbursement
Florida PIP generally provides up to $10,000 in medical and disability benefits and $5,000 in death benefits. Medical benefits ordinarily reimburse 80% of reasonable, medically necessary covered expenses when initial services and care are received within 14 days after the crash.
- Up to $10,000 in medical benefits is available when an authorized provider determines that an emergency medical condition existed.
- If the required provider determines that no emergency medical condition existed, medical reimbursement is generally limited to $2,500.
- Track the 14-day treatment requirement, PIP ledger, disability benefits, denials and exhaustion carefully.
- Analyze MedPay, health-insurance payments, medical liens, subrogation and reimbursement separately from PIP.
