OHIO AUTO INSURANCE GUIDE
Required Auto Insurance & Minimum Limits in Ohio
Ohio requires proof of financial responsibility with minimum motor-vehicle liability limits of $25,000 for bodily injury to one person, $50,000 for bodily injury to two or more persons in one accident, and $25,000 for property damage.
- Confirm the declarations page, covered vehicle and actual liability limits.
- Ohio does not require every policy to include UM/UIM coverage; determine whether it was purchased.
- Investigate owner, household, employer, commercial, umbrella and excess coverage when the facts support additional policies.
- Do not assume statutory minimums represent the total insurance available after a serious crash.
