OHIO AUTO INSURANCE GUIDE
Ohio Stacking & Multiple Insurance Policies
Ohio law permits motor-vehicle insurance policies to include anti-stacking provisions for UM/UIM coverage. Under Ohio Rev. Code § 3937.18, policies may limit recovery when multiple vehicles, policies or coverages could otherwise apply.
- Identify every potentially applicable policy before applying anti-stacking language.
- Review the actual other-insurance, anti-stacking and reducing provisions.
- Determine insured status separately under each policy.
- Do not assume multiple policies or premiums automatically produce additive UM/UIM limits.
