Kentucky PIP/Basic Reparation Benefits, Added Reparation Benefits & Reimbursement

Kentucky basic reparation benefits remain capped at $10,000 per person per accident for covered economic loss. Acts Chapter 149 (HB 627), effective July 15, 2026, materially changed administration of basic and added reparation benefits for coverage issued or renewed on or after its effective date.

  • The weekly cap for covered work loss and other statutorily limited loss increased from $200 to $500.
  • The legislation revised allowable reimbursement for covered medical expenses and tied applicable payments to statutory medical-fee-schedule rules.
  • The Act established additional requirements for reparation obligors paying medical expenses and persons submitting or collecting medical-expense claims.
  • Because the amendments apply according to issuance or renewal, confirm the policy’s effective and renewal dates before selecting the governing BRB rules.
  • Added reparation benefits remain a separate optional layer and should be investigated whenever economic loss exceeds basic BRB limits.
