MICHIGAN AUTO INSURANCE GUIDE

Michigan Settlement, Release & Claim Closure

Settlement should come only after PIP rights, residual liability claims, UM/UIM coverage, damages, provider issues, reimbursement interests and all responsible parties have been identified.

  • Identify every person and entity being released.
  • Review general-release, indemnity, hold-harmless, confidentiality and attorney-fee provisions.
  • Confirm whether UM/UIM or unresolved no-fault rights could be impaired.
  • Resolve provider, reimbursement and subrogation issues before distribution.
  • Preserve complete settlement, release and payment documentation.
