MINNESOTA GUIDE 22

Minnesota Settlement, Release & Claim Closure

Settlement should come only after no-fault rights, liability claims, UM/UIM coverage, damages, liens, reimbursement interests and all responsible parties have been identified.

  • Identify every person and entity being released.
  • Review general-release, indemnity, hold-harmless, confidentiality and attorney-fee provisions.
  • Confirm whether UM/UIM or unresolved no-fault rights could be impaired.
  • Resolve reimbursement, subrogation and lien issues before distribution.
  • Preserve complete settlement, release and payment documentation.
