WISCONSIN GUIDE 06
Wisconsin Stacking, Anti-Stacking & Multiple Insurance Policies
Wisconsin permits motor-vehicle policies to contain anti-stacking provisions. Wis. Stat. § 632.32(5)(f) allows a policy to provide that limits for similar coverage applying to other vehicles may not be added together, regardless of the number of policies, vehicles, covered persons, claims or premiums.
- Identify every potentially applicable liability, UM, UIM and MedPay policy.
- Read anti-stacking language together with the statutory permissions and restrictions in § 632.32.
- Determine the highest single applicable limit and any valid priority or reducing provisions.
- Do not assume multiple vehicles or premiums create additive limits.
