ALASKA GUIDE 15

Alaska Rideshare & Transportation Network Coverage

Alaska rideshare insurance changes with app status. While a transportation-network driver is logged in and available for ride requests but not engaged in a prearranged ride, Alaska requires primary liability limits of at least $50,000 per person, $100,000 per incident and $25,000 for property damage, together with UM/UIM coverage required by Alaska law. During a prearranged ride, the required primary liability coverage is at least $1 million, with statutory UM/UIM coverage.

  • Preserve app-status, trip, pickup and GPS records.
  • Obtain the driver’s personal policy and the transportation-network policy.
  • Review personal-policy exclusions and rideshare endorsements.
  • Distinguish the waiting-for-request period from the prearranged-ride period before applying limits.
