KANSAS GUIDE 02
Required Auto Insurance & Minimum Limits in Kansas
Kansas requires motor-vehicle liability insurance with minimum limits of $25,000 for bodily injury or death to one person, $50,000 for bodily injury or death to two or more persons in one accident, and $25,000 for property damage. Kansas policies must also include personal injury protection benefits and UM/UIM protection as required by statute.
- Confirm the declarations page, covered vehicle and actual liability limits.
- Identify mandatory PIP benefits and UM/UIM limits, including any written rejection of UM/UIM limits above the statutory minimum.
- Investigate owner, household, employer, commercial, umbrella and excess coverage when supported by the facts.
- Do not assume statutory minimums represent the total insurance available after a serious crash.
