Punitive damages have a separate statutory standard

NRS 42.005 permits punitive damages in qualifying noncontract cases upon clear and convincing proof of oppression, fraud, or malice, subject to statutory caps and exceptions. Motor-vehicle cases involving intoxicated driving are also addressed by NRS 42.010.
