Tennessee Rideshare & Transportation Network Coverage
Tennessee rideshare insurance changes according to app status and whether a prearranged ride is underway. Personal policies may exclude liability, UM/UIM, MedPay and other coverage during TNC use, while the TNC policy supplies statutory coverage during waiting and ride periods.
Tennessee TNC insurance changes by ride stage
Determine whether the driver was offline, logged on awaiting a request, or engaged in a prearranged ride. The applicable insurance changes with the statutory stage, so preserve platform trip and log records.
Logged on without a ride requires 50/100/25
While logged on but not engaged in a prearranged ride, Tennessee requires at least $50,000 bodily injury per person, $100,000 per accident and $25,000 property damage in primary TNC liability coverage.
A prearranged ride requires $1 million liability
During a prearranged ride, Tennessee requires at least $1 million in primary liability coverage. The statutory TNC insurance must also comply with Tennessee’s UM statute, and personal-auto policies may contain permitted TNC exclusions.
Future delivery-network law starts January 1, 2027
Public Chapter 1011 creates a separate delivery-network insurance regime effective January 1, 2027. It is a future-law maintenance item as of October 4, 2026 and should not be substituted for the current passenger-TNC rules.
