Oregon requires TNC-provided PIP during transportation services

ORS 742.520 requires a transportation network company to provide a motor-vehicle liability policy with PIP benefits for each affiliated driver. During transportation services, that PIP must cover the driver, passengers, and pedestrians struck by the vehicle.

Personal auto policies may exclude TNC activity

ORS 742.520 also permits a personal auto insurer to exclude coverage, including PIP, for losses occurring while the driver is providing transportation services for compensation in affiliation with a TNC. The TNC policy, personal policy, and any local transportation-program requirements should therefore be reviewed together.
